Deflategate and It's Impact On The Local Music Scene

deflategateThe Deflategate scandal has brought cheating to the forefront of everyone’s mind. Did the Patriots, or more specifically Tom Brady, knowingly cheat to gain an advantage in football games? We here at YourBand.info actually don’t really care. In fact, to the average musician, Football is as important as soccer is to the rest of the country (is soccer even a sport anymore?). What we do care about is local music. Do musicians cheat? We went on an expansive 6 month undercover investigation to see if cheating was occurring in local music. To our shock and horror we found numerous examples of cheating and deceitful practices. Below we have listed out our findings. We have changed the names of these musicians to protect the innocent.

Jake McKelvie & The Countertops-Review

Have you ever licked a unicorn? Have you ever swam with rainbows? Have you ever sneezed glitter? Have you ever had a llama tell you it loves your hairstyle? If you answered yes to one of these questions, please seek medical attention. If you answered yes to all of these questions; then you have been listening to our podcasts and have heard a tune by Jake McKelvie & the Countertops. We have been playing them frequently over the past few weeks. The band is mammothly tremendous.

Couch Guitar Straps- Umm- They are like amazing and stuff

couch guitar strap 1970's VWTalking about guitar straps are boring as pulling out your toes. Not the nails... the full toe. I mean, guitar straps just don’t mean anything to me. I bought a strap when I first started playing guitar and I pretty much just always have used that one since. Boring. That is how I drifted through the seas of guitar strapdom until I came across Couch Guitar Straps. They basically made me realize that I had been not giving enough credit to the piece of fabric tossed over my shoulder supporting my guitar and it was time to stake a moment and address that.

Krysta Youngs- Review

Krysta Youngs

http://www.krystayoungs.com/

Almost 5 years ago we reviewed an album by Krysta Youngs. We basically said it was “All that is wrong with music today and… she should put on a sweater.” We may have been a little harsh but at the time we felt that overproduced pieces of crap pop songs had no redeeming qualities and were not worth the time it took to listen to it. In fact, in the past we have compared things like Britney Spears to getting an ear enema (although there is quite a debatable on if an ear enema would feel good or not). Anyways, like a baby, we don’t think we gave Krysta a fair shake. So we were excited when the video for her new single and EP arrived at our doorstep.

Mike Morris- Review

Mike Morris- Review

Mike Morris released an album, Raise You Up, about a year ago. I received a copy of this album and instantly started listening to it so I could compose a review. Then I kept listening and listened some more. I needed words to describe the album but the correct words were escaping my brain. I set my thoughts away from writing the review and simply listened to the record. Days turned to weeks, and as they do, weeks turned to months. Seasons changed and time marched on. The album I was still listening to, still waiting to review. Then it happened. No, the words didn’t come. What happened was I realized I had taken so much time that it was now time to write the review without the perfect words.

Christa Renee Band -review

Christa Renee Band are a reggae funk band from Manchester NH. They released an album back in April Called “New Life”. It came across my desk for a review. I really want to like it. I love this band. I have seen this band live and they are fantastic. So, I seriously want to love this album. I think this band is tremendous live. Have I said that enough? I love them. They have a party feel and I always find myself dancing and twirling in the middle of the dance floor.
